The Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi) was jointly founded by the Governments of Denmark & Uganda in 2010 as a social enterprise that channels development cooperation funding to agribusinesses & agricultural service providers. aBi aims at building a competitive, profitable & sustainable agriculture and agribusiness sector in support of equitable wealth creation in Uganda. The aBi consists of two companies; aBi Finance Ltd a company limited by shares and aBi Development Ltd (formerly aBi Trust) limited by guarantee.
aBi Finance Ltd:In 2021 aBi Finance transitioned from a company limited by guarantee to a company limited by shares in a bid to commercialize its operations and attract new investments. As an impact investor, aBi Finance Ltd provides sustainable financing solutions in Uganda's financial services sector. Our mission revolves around enabling access to agribusiness and green finance, achieved through three key strategies: offering competitively priced liquidity through lines of credit (LoC), mitigating agribusiness finance risks using the agribusiness guarantee (AG), and bolstering the capabilities of financial services providers through Financial Services Development (FSD) and Business Development Services (BDS).

Communications Specialist – (1 position)The role is to take lead in the implementation of the communication strategy of aBi Finance provide support to the aBi Advocacy & Communications Unit in planning, development and implementation of aBi Finance’s strategies for communications, marketing, branding, public relations, advocacy, reputation management and stakeholder engagement, to position aBi Finance as a critical actor in the agribusiness sector.
The Communications Specialist will directly report to the Advocacy & Communications Manager .
