Fresh Handling’s much-anticipated airside cold storage facility is nearing completion, promising advanced support for Uganda’s growing fresh produce export industry. The facility, designed to enhance the preservation and handling of perishable goods, is progressing steadily, with significant construction milestones achieved.

The facility’s roofing stands at 50% completion, with full roofing anticipated by November 10, 2024. This roofing progress marks a critical phase, ensuring the facility’s readiness for future weatherproofing and environmental control measures necessary for cold storage.

Fresh Handling’s commitment to quality is evident in the completed terrazzo flooring on the ground level, while work on the mezzanine floor is set to commence this week. In addition, the facility has received high-grade cold-room fitting accessories from suppliers, critical for maintaining strict temperature control standards.

Moreover, the construction of the support structure, a vital component ensuring the building’s structural integrity and sustainability, has been fully completed.

This facility is set to play a pivotal role in Uganda’s export supply chain, providing a controlled environment for the safe handling of temperature-sensitive products.
